Our client from Japan is a global engineering company that provides equipment, technology and services to steel and metal industries.

Our client has developed innovative technologies and processes to help customers reduce their environmental footprint and achieve their sustainability.

As its supplier of filtration technology, we are pleased to be able to contribute to this philosophy with our innovative and efficient products.

In this project we supplied three magnetic rod separators as automatic, continuous and pressureless cleaning systems for rolling emulsion. Our engineers designed two FAUDI magnetic rod separators type MSA 15.000, with a flow rate of 16,200 l/min. Also, they constructed a FAUDI magnetic rod separator type MSA 8.000, which achieves a flow rate of 8,000 l/min.

 

FAUDI magnetic rod separators for the separation of ferromagnetic particles

Magnetic rod separators are often used in industrial settings to remove magnetic and ferrous particles from fluids and emulsions. When it comes to rolling emulsions, these separators are particularly important because rolling mills require high-quality coolant or rolling emulsion to lubricate the rolling process and prevent wear and tear on the equipment. Rolling emulsions often contain contaminants such as metal shavings, debris, and other particles that can negatively impact the quality of the final product. These contaminants can cause scratches, dents, and other defects on the rolled metal sheets or other products, leading to reduced product quality and increased scrap rates.

By using FAUDI magnetic rod separators, these contaminants can be effectively removed from the rolling emulsion before it is reused in the rolling process. The separators work by attracting and capturing ferrous particles with the help of a magnetic field. These particles are then trapped on the surface of the magnetic rods, where they can be easily removed and disposed of. In addition to improving product quality, using magnetic rod separators can also help to extend the life of the rolling emulsion, reducing the need for frequent replacement and saving on costs associated with disposal and replacement.

FAUDI magnetic rod separators use magnetic rods which produce their magnetic effect by means of axially magnetized hard ferrite round magnets. These are permanent magnets which permanently retain their static magnetic field (the magnetic coercivity (Hcj) of these magnets is 235 – 290 kA/m).

Compared to competitive products, we use stronger magnets, which result in a higher recording capacity for the same surface area.

Overall, the use of FAUDI magnetic rod separators is an important part of maintaining a clean, efficient and sustainable rolling mill operation.
